Slices

Slices are the dimensions you measure metrics "per". They answer the question: "per what is this metric available?"

Roll-ups

The roll-up relationship is a light-touch model of dimensional hierarchy. A slice can "roll up to" another slice (e.g., City rolls up to Region rolls up to Country).

Enumerated values

When a slice is low-dimensional and stable, you can define its enumerated values explicitly.

Temporal slices

Best practices for temporal slices (e.g., date, fiscal period) are being refined and will be documented here.
